Meet merino. This performance material adapts to body temperature, dries quickly, has natural antimicrobial properties – and so much more. Let’s take a closer look at this versatile fibre and ODLO’s merino performance apparel.
Absolutely. It’s all thanks to its natural superpowers, including thermoregulation, moisture-wicking and antibacterial properties. So, as you sprint in your merino running t-shirt, you’ll sweat less, stay comfortable and swerve body odour.
Merino wool sportswear is also perfect for runners, hikers and skiers because it’s:
- - Breathable
- - Quick drying
- - Long lasting
- - Soft to the touch
-
The list continues. In short, though, merino performance apparel rivals the breathability and moisture management of most synthetic performance materials, making it near-flawless for activewear.
Merino sportswear is also comfortable for everyday life – from the office to off-piste. Browse our merino clothing women’s collection and men’s collection and experience incredible next-to-skin comfort with our selection of merino underwear, merino wool leggings and more.
Definitely. The magic of merino clothing is that it adapts to your body temperature, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Plus, although it’s wool, it’s more breathable than cotton.
Just adapt your grammage to the season. For example, choose:
- - 115 to 150 GSM for summer
- - 190 to 200 GSM during winter
- - At least 260 GSM for skiing
-
And merino clothing’s thermoregulation works even when wet. That’s because merino wool is naturally water resistant, absorbing around 30 per cent of its weight in moisture before feeling damp. And let’s not forget it’s quick drying, too.
Nothing trumps the superior quality of pure merino. Compared to regular wool, merino is more breathable, finer and softer (without any of the itchiness previously associated with the fabric). It’s also incredibly long-lasting and biodegradable. Additionally, you can wear merino over several days comfortably without needing to wash it.
Of course, ODLO offers high-quality, high-performing, 100 per cent merino wool clothing, including our ODLO x Janus baby and kids’ collection. We craft precision blends to boost merino’s natural performance, too. One example is the merino/synthetic mix in ODLO’s Natural Kinship line.
While merino wool sportswear tends to be more expensive, the price reflects ODLO’s ethical sourcing practices. All ODLO’s merino wool is certified non-mulesed and adheres to the Responsible Wool Standard.
