THERMAL UNDERWEAR

Thermal underwear and base layers for women and men

Skiing fresh powder in cold temperatures. Hiking in the mountains during warmer weather. Outdoor activities call for a range of high quality base layers to wick moisture, warm you up and keep you comfortable. That’s where thermal underwear comes in. Designed for different conditions and intensity levels, thermal underwear keeps sweat off your skin so you stay comfortable for longer. So, you can ride further or ski more without being cold or overheating.

What material is thermal underwear made of?

Thermal underwear is made from a range of materials, such as synthetics, natural fibres and blends. Synthetic thermal underwear fabric is perfect for elevated heart rates and higher intensity activities (like running and cycling), thanks to its moisture-wicking and fast drying abilities. ODLO's natural performance base layers – made primarily from 100 percent merino or merino blends – offer exceptional comfort thanks to their natural thermoregulation and antibacterial performance properties. Discover more in ODLO’s base layer guide.

Choosing your thermal underwear

Finding the best thermal underwear depends a lot on lifestyle and sport.

You can also choose from one of ODLO’s four different temperature control systems:

Keep sweat under control during challenging summer hikes with ODLO’s X-Light and Light collections. These feature moisture-regulating, lightweight thermal underwear. For winters in the mountains, choose ODLO’s Warm insulated thermal underwear. Skiing in extreme temperatures is where ODLO’s X-Warm line shines. This features extra warm thermal underwear with strategic double-layer insulation to protect your body’s most sensitive areas.

How should thermal underwear fit?

As a general rule, the harder you’re working, the tighter your thermal underwear should be. All ODLO’s base layers feature innovative technologies in two different fits:

  • - Fitted: Made for a next-to-skin fit
  • - Slim: Cut close to the body
