Trail tested: Marine Noret takes Chill-tec out for a run

Breathability and versatility highlight new collection, says amateur sportsperson Marine Noret.

Marine Noret is well-known for using sport to maintain a healthy lifestyle. On Instagram, she posts images of mountains, cycling, running, skiing, and idyllic walks with her dog. The scenery is well-captured, the images well-curated.

A known author and speaker in France – she is one of several sportspeople who post about ODLO kit on Instagram – the good and the bad. We connect over Teams to gather feedback on ODLO’s just released spring and summer Zeroweight Chill-tec collection, particularly after a wet, cool spring in Haute-Savoie.

Predominantly a trail runner, though she spends ample time cycling, too, Noret is targeting two big events this summer: the Marathon du Mont-Blanc and the ODLO High Trail Vanoise. With weekly mileage nearing 60 kilometres, she says it’s the lightweight fabric of the Zeroweight Chill-tec t-shirt and versatility of the women’s FLI 2.5 print hardshell jacket she has used and enjoyed most this spring.

“ODLO’s collections are multi-dimensional, which I love,” she explains over Teams. “The FLI hardshell for example is with me all the time when I’m running trails, but hiking and around town, too. I’ve been in so many situations where I needed a shell to cut wind and cold – and have been saved countless times by it!”

One of the challenges of training in the Haute-Savoie region is of course, the unpredictability of the weather – especially in spring, she says. The adaptability of both pieces, when ascents are hard, but descents can often be cold and unpleasant, make them particularly useful for mountain life.

With the Zeroweight Chill-tec fabric, she says her runs are always comfortable thanks to the fabric’s airiness. And beyond functionality, the style of the running kit gives her added motivation to train. Though with mountains and scenery so beautiful as her backdrop, we hardly think she needs it.
