At the 15th of August started one of the biggest adventures, that you can imagine on two wheels – The Tortour. A fight against nature, against the opponents and most of all against yourself. ODLO is proud, to be a sponsor of this epic event and because of this every starter had to ride the prologue with a ODLO Bikeshirt.
The Tortour ist the biggest multiday nonstop utracycling event in the world. The start and finish is placed in Schaffhausen and to rech the finishline, you have to ride 1.000 kilometers with several passes in the swiss Alps - day and night, solo or in a team. The winner of the solo category did cross the line after 39 hours and 37 minutes with only two times ten minutes of sleep.
Among the starters were several big names like Miguel Indurain, Fabian Cancellara, Martin Elmiger, Silvan Dillier and ODLO athlet und triathlete Jan van Berkel.
But there were not only professionals participating in the event. Also many amateurs were brave enough for this challenge. One of the was the ODLO Marketing Manager Yvonne Carisch. She started in the sprint event with her team Summits4Hope. A “sprint” at the Tortour is in numbers: 390 kilometers and around 3.500 meters of height. With a strong ride, the team finished in the top 10. They finished the race in 18 hours and were tired but happy in the end.
Yvonne did comment her experience like this: “It was a really special experience with a lot of ups and downs. But we never stopped to believe in finishing this race in Schaffhausen.”
With her team, she did support the foundation Summits4Hope which is working on two great charity projects: Footsteps in Kenia and Solidarus in switzerland.
