Odlo joins the growing list of organisations committed to science-based targets initiative

Companies and financial institutions mobilising around ambitious climate action

(Hünenberg, Switzerland) – January 2024 – Last month, Odlo’s commitment to greenhouse gas reduction (GHG) was formally recognised by the science-based targets initiative (SBTi), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for corporate climate action that helps companies validate and ensure alignment with the Paris Agreement on climate change to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

By signing the commitment letter, Odlo (alongside two other Monte Rosa Sports AG brands, Janus and Henry Lloyd) joins a growing group of leading corporations who recognise the crucial role businesses play in minimising the risk that climate change poses to the future of our planet, aligning their targets to what climate science deems necessary.

Under its “we can do more” commitment to people and the planet, the company hopes to protect our much-loved playgrounds and preserve them for future generations of reawakened athletes.

Reducing GHG emissions

“We need to do our part to reduce the impact of our business on the planet,” explains Daniel Eppler, CEO of Monte Rosa Sports AG, of the SBTi commitment. “It’s crucial we sharpen our focus and prioritise our most significant areas of influence, advancing our commitments in line with best-practice climate science.”

Odlo is currently working to measure GHG emissions from its most recent financial year. With this done, and once its SBTi targets are aligned, it will then measure annual emissions and continue to actively implement reduction strategies to meet its commitments. SBTi’s support ensures that plans are properly carried out within a pre-defined timeline.
