From materials to energy to production, every choice matters.
Choose with Care is about taking responsibility for the impact of our decisions. From the energy we use to the raw material for our sewing thread, every choice leaves a footprint. We recognise that no material or process is impact-free. Our goal is to make informed trade-offs and continuous improvements, focusing on the areas where we have the greatest influence and can reduce our impact most effectively.
This pillar reflects our belief that sustainability is not limited to one department or product line. It is part of how we design, source, manufacture and operate. That means choosing suppliers who share our values, investing in better materials, managing chemicals responsibly and working towards cleaner energy across our value chain.
We focus on two areas where we can have the most direct and lasting impact.
Responsible sourcing
Across our value chain, we prioritise certified, lower-impact materials, manage chemicals responsibly and build long-term partnerships with suppliers who share our standards. Our goal is to certify all base layers, using Bluesign certification for synthetic base layers and the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) on Merino.
Renewable energy
We start in our own operations, investing in efficiency and on-site generation, and extend our efforts across the value chain through supplier data collection and engagement. Our goal is to monitor and increase renewable energy use in Odlo-owned operations and to advocate for the use of renewable energy across our value chain.

Choose with Care comes to life through our two focus areas. Responsible Sourcing brings together how we choose materials and manage chemicals, helping us make informed choices across our products and value chain. Renewable Energy guides how we reduce emissions in our own operations and encourage progress across our value chain. Underpinning both is Measuring Impact, which gives us the data to identify priorities, track progress and make better decisions.

The materials we select, the processes used to make them and the energy that powers production all shape our impact. Choosing with care means using evidence to prioritise meaningful improvements across our products and value chain.
Ultimately for Odlo, it is about helping to protect the places that inspire us to move by reducing our impact while continuing to deliver the comfort, quality and performance our community expects.
Value chain: All activities and business relationships involved in creating and delivering a product, from raw materials and manufacturing to transport, sales, use and end of life.
bluesign®: An independent system for safer chemistry and more responsible textile production. It assesses chemicals, materials and manufacturing processes to help reduce risks to people and the environment across the textile value chain.
bluesign | Safer Chemistry & Responsible Textile Production
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS): A voluntary standard that addresses sheep welfare, land management and social requirements and provides a chain of custody for certified wool through the value chain.
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) - Textile Exchange
Textile Exchange: A global non-profit organisation that develops standards, data and tools for the fashion, textile and apparel industry, with a focus on impacts linked to fibres and raw material production.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100: A certification for textiles tested for harmful substances. Testing covers every component of the certified article, with stricter requirements for products intended for closer or more sensitive skin contact.
Carbon footprint: The total greenhouse gas emissions associated with an organisation, product or activity, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e). It can include direct emissions, purchased energy and other indirect emissions across the value chain.
