That's why we've introduced HeiQ Mint™ odour-control technology to selected garments. It helps clothing stay fresher for longer while supporting our commitment to continually improve the materials and technologies we use.
Why Do Clothes Start to Smell?
Sweat itself doesn't actually smell. Odours develop when naturally occurring bacteria on your skin break down compounds found in sweat, creating the smells that build up during wear.
For outdoor and everyday apparel, effective odour control means you can stay comfortable and confident for longer, even on active days.
Why Staying Fresher Matters
Odour-control technology isn't just about comfort.
When garments stay fresh for longer, they don't need washing as often. That means fewer trips to the washing machine, which can help reduce water and energy use over the lifetime of a garment. It also makes life easier when you're travelling, hiking or simply getting more wear from your favourite T-shirt or base layer.
Why We Made the Switch
Some of our previous collections featured a silver-based odour-control treatment. Silver technologies have been widely used across the outdoor industry for many years because they're effective at helping control odour-causing bacteria.
As textile innovation has advanced, new alternatives have become available. After reviewing the latest developments in fabric technology, we decided to transition to HeiQ Mint™ – a plant-based* odour-control technology made using naturally derived mint oil. HeiQ Mint™ works by capturing the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) responsible for the intense odour of human sweat.
This move reflects our preference for innovative, plant-based textile solutions where they can deliver the performance our customers expect.
Unlike treatments that simply mask odours with fragrance, HeiQ Mint™ helps prevent odours from developing in the first place. The technology is designed to bond to the fabric, helping it remain effective wash after wash without affecting softness, breathability or moisture management.

Our decision to move to HeiQ Mint™ is part of our ongoing approach to improving our products through thoughtful innovation.
By transitioning from a silver-based treatment to a plant-based alternative, we're embracing advances in textile technology while maintaining the comfort, durability and performance our garments are known for.
