In the first part of this new series, we double-click on some of the base layers we love and the overlap between comfort, the outdoors and sustainability. We’ve dubbed the shorts, “Behind the Seams” – a nod to the seamless products for which we’re best known: the world’s most comfortable, next-to-skin base layers.
Episode one is all about a summer-weight Performance Wool base layer designed specifically for cycling. The cream-coloured variant (highlighted in the video) is made without dyes and uses 50 per cent less water and chemicals than some others in the range: a step towards our “choose with care” commitment to use 100% preferred materials by 2030.
Made from a merino-blend fabric composed of 67 per cent merino wool and 33 per cent polyamide, this is an absolute in-house fave: a standout in the heat (and even more so in the mountains); naturally temperature regulating; and able to be worn again and again without washing thanks to merino’s natural anti-odour properties. Plus, it wears incredibly well off the bike, too, as an undershirt year round.
The second installment of this series features the Blackcomb, an innovative seamless design made from mostly recycled polyester fibres. We’ve loved the Blackcomb since its birth back in 2015 when it won an ISPO Award and became a fast favourite. A decade later, we’ve made some tweaks here and there, but what we’re most stoked about is designing the last few iterations in collab with Protect our Winters Switzerland – an organisation we proudly partner with to support climate advocacy.
The high-performing Blackcomb falls in our Warm range, meaning the top and bottom are standouts for huge range of winter sports. What’s to love: exceptional fit, fast dry times, anti-stink treatment. And no matter how much you move in them, Blackcomb’s seamless design keeps annoying chafing out of the equation. All from a 75 per cent recycled polyester fabric blend.
This season, you’ll find the third version of our Odlo x POW base layer made with an integrated, body mapped graphic that represents glacial melt and the tag “Protect our winters” embossed in the interior. Base layers designed with intent for both ultimate comfort and unrivalled function.
