In a world of fast fashion and short product lifecycles, true durability stands out.
Recently, we received a message via LinkedIn from a loyal customer that reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
Angelo Perna, Product Manager for Chemistry & Life Science at Leistritz Pumpen Gmb in Nuremberg, Germany, was out running in his Odlo jacket in the pouring rain on January 9th, 2026. In that moment, he reminisced on how long he’d been jogging for, how many kilometres he had ran, and how many competitions he had entered over the years. It also struck him that his Odlo running jacket had been with him almost every step of the way, purchased over 30 years ago in 1997 from Bunert in Essen.
A Product Manager himself and someone passionate about both sustainability and technical durability, Angelo felt compelled to reach out to us. Expecting nothing in return, he simply wanted to share his story.
At 56 years old, Angelo has been running since 1987, covering many thousands of kilometres in all weathers – predominantly in Odlo clothing.

“I bought my first item of clothing from you in 1992, and I still wear it today,” he told us.
“Your products are high-quality, durable and superbly crafted in terms of function and quality, as you can see from my jacket.”
Angelo also shared that he would recommend our products to anyone:
“Even though Odlo may initially seem more expensive than some other brands, you quickly realise you’re paying for quality that lasts - in my case three decades - and that makes all the difference.”
He even sent us a photograph of himself wearing his jacket in a newspaper report dating all the way back to 2002!

In a world of constant launches and louder-than-ever marketing, it’s not always easy to know what truly stands the test of time.
That’s why long-term experiences matter. When someone shares a story after years (even decades) of use, it says more than any campaign ever could.
When we asked Angelo if we could share his story, he said yes. And we’re proud to tell it.

We spoke with our Product Team, who reliably informed us that Angelo’s jacket is the Stone Jacket (style 60722) in the Fire Red colourway, crafted from Micro 800 windproof fabric with a water-resistant coating. They also noted that it was a favourite of our founder, Odd Roar Lofterød, thanks to its exceptional breathability - achieved without a membrane - while still offering reliable water repellency.
